Beloit shooting suspect in custody; victim in stable condition

A 24-year-old Beloit man is in jail and another is in the hospital following an early morning shooting on Saturday.

Beloit Police allege that Christopher Barker, 24, of Beloit, shot an unnamed 28-year-old man with whom he was acquainted in a home in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue at 4:01 a.m. Saturday.

Police were called to the scene by a witness. The victim, who was shot in the shoulder, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville and is listed in stable condition.

Police arrested Barker without incident in the 200 block of Moore Avenue, for Attempted Homicide and a substantial battery warrant out of Milwaukee.
