Benefit Held for Baby With Rare Form of Cancer

The family of a toddler fighting a rare form of cancer hosted a benefit in his name tonight.

Doctors found a tumor wrapped around the spine of 1-year-old Kendrick when he was just 3.5 months old. The family says even after two surgeries, Kendrick’s tumor continues to grow, and the only option left is gene therapy.

The benefit tonight featured silent auctions, raffles, face painting and a Zumba-thon. Family members say every dollar raised will go toward helping Kendrick’s parents with expenses.

“They live in Arizona, so they have to drive an hour to the Phoenix hospital for him to have treatment, like three times a week,” said Kendrick’s Aunt Akemi Taylor. “So this is helping them to be able to pay for that, pay for their bills, pay for their food, anything, you know, we can help them out with.”
