Today is the last day for Bergner’s in the stateline area as the retailer is shuttering its CherryVale Mall location for good on Wednesday afternoon.
Bergner’s parent company Bon-Ton announced it will close all of its locations nationwide, after filing for bankruptcy.
The liquidation firms Great American Group and Tiger Capital Group placed the highest bid at an auction on Tuesday for more than 250 Bon-Ton owned stores, which includes Boston Store, which has a location in Janesville.
In a statement, Bon-Ton said, “We are committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact…on our associates, customers, vendors, and the communities we serve.”
The company will continue to operate its online sites, fulfilling any pending orders, as well as taking new ones until the company closes permanently.
Bon-Ton anticipates all of its stores will be shut down by today.
