A commercial building at the corner of 10th Street and 11th Avenue was destroyed in an overnight fire.
The Rockford Fire Department was called to the scene at 12:28 a.m. Saturday morning, only to find the building completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters fought the blaze for nearly an hour, trying to bring it under control.
The building was determined to be a total loss, with an estimated total of $50,000 in damages. Heavy equipment was used to demolish the structure.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
