Bill Inspired by Death of Rockford Police Officer Passes House

A bill inspired by the death of Rockford Police Deputy Chief Greg Lindmark has passed the Illinois House unanimously.

Lindmark committed suicide after years of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder. The ‘Greg Lindmark Memorial Bill’ requires schools that train probationary officers include curriculum about PTSD. That includes recognizing and knowing how to respond when they or other officers show signs of the disorder.

It is sponsored by Representative John Cabello and Brian Stewart.
