Bill Would Require Police Officers to Carry Epi-pen

The General Assembly passed a bill requiring police officers to carry a tool that helps victims suffering from an allergic reaction.

The proposal would provide them training to use Epi-pens.  This comes after a 13 year-old DuPage County girl died last year.  In that case, officers weren’t authorized to carry or use Epi-pens.  When medics arrived, it was already too late.

The bill currently sits on Governor Bruce Rauner’s desk.
