Dozens came out to the Carpenters Training Center. But not to work to donate blood in honor of a carpenter’s wife.
Family and friends came out to honor Jennifer Rodriguez-Ford with a blood drive today, put on by Rockford United Labor. The wife and mother passed away in early December, after working with the Rock River Valley Blood Center for 16 years. Today’s goal was to collect at least 50 pints of blood, and those close to Rodriguez-Ford say this was a perfect idea to honor they her.
“Jenny always promoted and she always helped everybody and that’s why I came today because I’m doing this in her memory because this is what she wanted us to do”, said Rodriguez-Ford’s cousin Esmeralda Salazar.
Statistics say every two seconds, someone in a hospital needs blood and each pint collected today will help up to three people.
