Hundreds of people filled the BMO Harris Bank Center, but not for a show, they came just to drink beer.
The second annual Gr815 Beer Fest kicked off Saturday afternoon. The fest gave beer enthusiasts a chance to taste over 125 different beers from 26 different breweries, and if beer isn’t your drink of choice the fest also had whiskey and other liquor tastings and even wine. The event aims so showcase everything the Forest City, and Northern Illinois has to fill your beer mugs with.
“Really go into the neighborhood, we get the local breweries like Prarie Street. We’ve actually invited some distilleries that started to pop up. So we’re taking advantage of what Rockford has to offer, and bringing in some things from outside of Rockford to make our event a little special”, Executive Director and General Manager for Rockford Area Venues and Entertainment, Troy Flynn said.
The fest ended at 5 and everyone at the event got to take home a souvenir tasting cup.
