UPDATE 5/26/2016: An autopsy confirms that the body pulled out of Rock River was James N. Brieske. Police do not believe foul play was involved. Brieske had been missing since May 23rd.

Fire department personnel searching the Rock River for the person seen jumping off a nearby bridge have found a body, possibly that of a man reported missing earlier this week.

The body was discovered at around 11am by Janesville Fire Department personnel. They had been search the river by boat after someone reported seeing a person jump off the Centerway Bridget on May 23rd.  Officials report the body was located near the Court Street Bridge on the east side of the river.

Police were initially told that a witness saw a white male who was approximately six feet tall with curly hair jump off the bridge at around 10:30pm on the 23rd.  A search of the river at that time did not locate anyone.

However, police later learned that a person matching that description named James Brieske was missing.

A positive identification of the body has not yet been made pending an autopsy.
