Bond Denied For Suspected Deputy Shooter

A judged denied bond for the man accused of shooting a Winnebago Co. Sheriff’s deputy.

Jordan Spates, 27, made his first court appearance Wednesday.  He’s charged with four counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery to a police officer with a firearm.

Police say on Sept. 23rd, Deputy Stephen Wright tried to pull Spates over near Springfield and S. Main St.  According to investigators, Spates was driving more than 100 miles per hour.  He evnetually stopped.  But, then they say Spates got out of the car and shot Wright three times.

The deputy survived.

Wright underwent two surgeries.  Law enforcement in Georgia caught Spates Oct. 6th.
