In Belvidere on Saturday, tow trucks had to fish a car out of the Kishwaukee River after its brakes failed.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. on South Appleton Road, where police say the car, which had been parked at a Mobil Gas station, suffered a malfunction and suddenly rolled through the street and into the river.
The driver was not in the car at the time and no one was hurt.
