Since September, U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL) voted on three short-term budgets. Now, she has no plans to do that a fourth time.
Bustos made the comments while touring 425 Manufacturing in Rockford. It’s part of her “Cheri on Shift” campaign, where she visits manufacturing companies and gets an idea of what they do every day. Bustos says Congress is not doing its job by passing short-term spending plans.
“If there’s a message to send to everybody, it’s that we have to stop the short-term spending plan get to a one year budget that goes all the way into the end of the fiscal year and get back to the work we should be doing,” said Bustos.
The most recently passed spending plan only funds the government through Feb. 8th. She’s hopeful Congress can figure out a long-term budget by then.
