California Couple Sentenced for Involvement in Galena Motel Shootout


A Jo Daviess County judge sentenced a couple whose attempt to escape from police at the beginning of May led to an them being shot at by police officers.

Andrew Cummings and Crystal McLaughlin dragged a police officer with a stolen pickup truck as they tried to escape from police at a Galena motel.  Another officer fired at the pickup as they attempted to get away.  Both Cummings and McLaughlin were wanted fugitives, out of California.

Cummings and McLaughlin each received five years in prison on Aggravated Battery and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle charges.
