A Rockford church handed out awards to area organizations that seek to help children.
A group at Gethsemane Christian Church created the Selah Awards to recognize people who have made a difference in the community. On Thursday, it gave awards to over 50 children’s charities during a special event at Giovanni’s. Rockford Children’s Home, United Way, and CASA are just a few of those who received honors.
“It is our goal to ensure that all of the students that are part of our group… will actually recognize and serve as a liaison to a specific charity throughout the entire year,” Event Coordinator Angela Carter.
