City of Rockford hosts landlord engagement and appreciation event, aims to end homelessness

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – The Forest City holds an event aimed at ending homelessness.

The Rockford Human Services Department sat down with area landlords to fight the issue.

Organizers hope housing owners will find places for people to stay.

Landlords received information on the benefits of working with the agency.

“It’s really a community effort,” said Rockford’s Homeless Program Coordinator Angie Walker. “We’re trying really hard to end homelessness in our community and we can’t do it without the help of the landlords. We need them. And we hope they want to help our community to get better.”

This was the first time the city held the event.
