Closing arguments in trial of former North Boone teacher accused of sexual assaulting student

News

The trial of former North Boone High School teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student two years ago resumed on Friday.

Closing arguments were held today, as the main arguments revolved around how old the victim, referred to only as E.G., was when she and the accused, Scott Brady, had sexual relations.

Brady sat quietly, listening as prosecutors presented text messages about his hidden affair with the student.

Not only did attorneys talk about the age of the student, but also the role Brady had in her life as a teacher or mentor.

Earlier in the week, the victim testified that she was the instigator of the relationship. She also stated that she was 18 at the time and manipulated Brady after she was thrown out of her home.

Winnebago County Judge John Lowry decided to wait until next Friday for a ruling.
