Our annual community drive to help local mothers in need is in full swing, but it comes to a close in just a few days. We’re asking for any last minute donations for our Community Baby Shower.
The donations benefit Crusader Community Health, with the goal of bringing proper clothing and care items to babies in the Rockford area. People can donate anything from baby wipes, bottles, shampoo, and even children’s books — but there is an emphasis on disposable diapers, as Crusader says they’re running low on them this year.
The donations don’t have a small impact: Crusader treats medically under-served patients in the community, including delivering 1,000 babies each year, accounting for about 25% of all births in Winnebago County.
This is the eighth annual Community Baby Shower, and Crusader hopes to continue to see community support.
“It really helps families in the community, not just necessarily Crusader families, but families in the community, to fill a space, fill a need, for them,” said Kathy Olson of Crusader Community Health.
Donations are accepted through this Friday at drop off locations including Crusader Community Health on Alpine and Gustafson’s Furniture on East State.
