Convicted Felon Arrested on Drugs, Gun Charges in Freeport


A search of a Freeport home ends in the arrest of a convicted felon.

Maurice Williams, 38, was taken into custody on Wednesday. When authorities searched his home in the 100 block of E. Washington Street they found three pistols, ammunition and more than 130 grams of marijuana.

Williams is charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, armed habitual criminal and possession with intent to deliver 30 to 500 grams of cannabis. His bond has been set at $150,000.

Freeport Police Department Emergency Response Team and State Line Area Narcotics Team carried out the arrest.
