The Rockford Park District Police Department staked out Friday morning on a very important operation.
It’s called, “Cop on a Rooftop.”
An officer stood on top of the Dunkin’ Donuts roof on Alpine. It’s to raise money for the Special Olympics. It’s one of several fundraisers the department does every year. All the money they raise helps pay for the travel costs for families to attend the games.
“We take care of that by doing the several events that we do throughout the year. This is one of them,” said Community Services Officer Lisa Leombruni. “The cop on top of the rooftop – yes, cops on top of the donut shop. But, it’s fun! It really is!.”
The Special Olympics kicks off next month.
