Loves Park, Ill. — Dairy Depot is opening for it’s 35th season this Friday.
The ice cream staple at 5413 N. 2nd Street in Loves Park will open for the summer on Friday, May 24th starting at 4:00 PM.
You’ll notice some improvements to the building and surrounding area this year. In honor of owner John M. Elliott Jr., his daughter Tonya Lamia spearheaded beautification initatives for the business.
The Dairy Depot logo is up on a new art mural with a cow conductor inside the train. There will also be new seating and parking areas coming in June.
“In addition to improvements made at the Dairy Depot building, we’re honored to be working with the City of Loves Park to spearhead neighborhood redevelopment and beautification projects,” said Lamia. “Together with the City of Loves Park and Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful, we’re raising money from the private sector to build three new public parks on three of the four corners of River Lane and N. 2nd Street. We look forward to making announcements with community partners and sponsors in the months to come.”
