DAMAGING FIRE: How Quickly Firefighters Controlled a Blaze Inside a Rockford Motel

A fire causes major damage at a  motel on Rockford’s southeast side.

Flames tore through the second floor of the Rockford Motel, 3851 11th Street, around 9:30 Sunday morning.

Fire officials say when they arrived, crews could see heavy black smoke and flames on the second floor. However, firefighters were able to get the fire under control within about 20 minutes.

Only one apartment was affected and no one was displaced. No one was hurt.

The cause is still under investigation… But the flames left behind about 35-thousand dollars in damage.
