Decorating Easter eggs teaches kids math and science concepts, says Discovery Center

News

Rockford’s Discovery Center Museum held an “Egg-cessorizing” event ahead of Easter Sunday.

Children and parents came to the center on Friday to decorate eggs with dye, stickers, feathers, and more.

Organizers say parents enjoy the event because they can spend quality time with their kids.

Corrine Sosso, the Director of Education and Programs, said the kids learn while they have fun.

“What they’re learning are actually math concepts and science concepts, as they’re learning how to take something that’s flat and make it go on something that’s curved. That’s math. Yes it is. And, they’re learning what happens when you mix colors together,” she said.

The Discovery Center and the Burpee Museum will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m, at 711 N Main Street.
