DeKalb Sheriff warns of police impersonator in telephone scam

News

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a telephone scam that claims to be coming from their office.

A number of residents have reported receiving a call from a Sheriff’s Office number, in which the caller identifies themselves as “Officer Warren.”

The caller says it’s urgent for the resident to call them back, or claims a payment is missing for jury duty.

Police say they will never call asking for money and any call of this nature should be considered fraudulent and is an attempt to scam money.
