Deputies find alligator in Machesney Park

MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) – Sometimes, even police need an assist.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies wrangled up an American Alligator. The department posted a picture of the gator with one of its officers.

Animals aren’t quite their specialty, so they called in animal services to assist. The gator has been transferred to a Chicago area reptile recue.

A friendly reminder from the sheriff’s office, alligators are not legal to have as pets.
