Deputies find methamphetamine inside car after high speed pursuit

A Jo Daviess County Deputy arrested a man after a high speed pursuit and found methamphetamine inside his vehicle on Saturday night.

The Deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop at 8:59 p.m. The vehicle did not stop nd continued south on Route 78 from Hicks Road at a high speed rate. The pursuit continued to Route 20 then east into Stephenson County. 

During the pursuit, speed reached 115 mph in a 55 mph zone. The vehicle traveled the wrong way on a four lane controlled access highway on Route 20 east of business 20. 

The vehicle lost control and crashed on a ramp at Route 20 and Route 26.

After a short foot pursuit, Deputies took Jarret J. Hiatt, 29, into custody. After a vehicle search, a crystal lake substance was found that tested positive for methamphetamine.
