Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is on thin ice with republicans, including Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), following comments he made about a federal judge’s Mexican heritage.
Trump suggested Judge Gonzalo Curiel can’t fairly rule in a case against the now-defunct Trump University. Trump has suggested that his hard-line stance on illegal immigration and building a wall along the Mexican border would cloud Curiel’s judgement.
Kinzinger told CNN that it was a racist comment.
“I haven’t endorsed him,” said Kinzinger. “I want to get to the point of endorsing the republican nominee. This makes it hard.”
On Tuesday, Janesville native and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) called the comments, “textbook racist.”
