Durand High School students got a first-hand look at how county government operates pm Friday with a tour of the Winnebago County Justice Center.
They got a chance to hear from officers and county leaders and ask questions about how local government functions.
“I realize more now that the judges and the attorneys aren’t always against you,” said student Jacob Burns. “You can be helped by them and the state of power that they hold. [It’s] actually something that is very important and shouldn’t be messed with.”
“I totally have a lot of respect for them,” said student Caden Manning. “They’re putting their lives on the line every day. They go through all this stress, all this pressure, and I don’t feel they get enough thanks for what they do.”
Students wrapped up the morning with lunch at Rockford Police’s District One Headquarters.
