U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (R-IL) wants to tighten access to opioid pills.

He met with officials from the Drug Enforcement Agency Thursday.  Durbin urged them to reduce the yearly amount of opioid pills that can be manufactured and sold in the U.S.  He says it could prevent people from becoming addicted to the painkillers.

The DEA has already taken such steps over the past 20 years, most recently in 2015.
