Eating titans take on Nathan’s hot dog contest on Coney Island

News

What’s the Fourth of July without the famous Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island, New York?

But before the dogs hit the rolls, the contestants have to be weighed in.  That happened at the Empire State Building on Tuesday.

Contestants from around the world stepped on the scale and also got a chance to stare down the competition.

On Wednesday participants will try to eat as many hot dogs and buns as they can in 10 minutes. Last year, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut ate 72 hot dogs.

Miki Sudo is seeking a fifth women’s title in a row. The 19-woman field includes record-holder Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas.

The competition will be televised on ESPN.
