Eight puppies who were found in a garbage can in Wisconsin are now five weeks old and up for adoption.

56-year-old Robert Wild, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, was arrested for allegedly stuffing the puppies in a garbage bag and discarding them in a garbage can.

Marshalfield Police say they were called to the 800 block of E. 4th Street around 3:15 p.m. on February 28th for the complaint of the sound of kittens coming from a garbage can.

When police investigated, they discovered the eight newborn pups in a garbage bag inside the can.

The puppies were taken to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter

Police made contact with Wild, who admitted to throwing the puppies away. He was taken to jail and charged with the Mistreatment of Animals and Abandonment of Animals.

Adoption applications are being accepted starting April 11th.
