Elderly, drunk man rescued after jumping into Rock River

An elderly man jumped into the Rock River while intoxicated and was rescued by Janesville Police on Tuesday.

According to the Janesville Gazette, shortly before 1 p.m., officers were called to the Centerway Bridge for the report of an elderly man clinging to one of the bridge supports after having jumped into the river.

A police officer was able to lower a rope and guide him to the shore. He was then taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
