Employee robbed outside Rockford bank


UPDATE — A woman was robbed while walking into a Rockford bank Friday morning.

Police say the employee had just gotten into the atrium when a man with a gun walked in behind her.

The man was not able to get into the bank but did rob the woman of her cash.


ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police is investigating an armed robbery outside a Midtown bank Friday morning.

Police say an employee was held up outside the U.S. Bank on East State Street and South Longwood Street just before 8:30 a.m. This bank opens at 9 a.m.

No one was hurt.

The gunman was wearing all dark clothing with a brown ski mask. He ran south after the robbery.

It’s not known if anything was taken.
