Authorities say a Texas man has been arrested for allegedly beating his 1-year-old daughter and then gluing her eyes and mouth shut.

Johnnie Lee Carter, 29, was arrested Monday and charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury after he allegedly assaulted and glued his daughter’s eyes and mouth shut.

He left the scene before police arrived.

Investigators who arrived on the scene saw that the girl’s face had been injured, and a Crazy Glue stick was found nearby.

According to KOSA-TV, police also found a 2-month-old girl underneath blankets and pillows in the room. A woman, who identified Carter as her husband, told police he had put the girl there because she was crying.

The mother told police that Carter had choked the 1-year-old while punching her on the head, stomach and rib area before using the glue.

Carter was later apprehended in E Paso by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.
