FBI: Body of missing autistic boy Maddox Ritch found after 6-day search

The FBI believes it has recovered the body of 6-year-old Maddox Ritch who went missing 6 days ago in a wooded area in North Carolina.

Maddox went missing six days ago. Multiple volunteers were searching for the autistic, non-verbal child.

Maddox was last seen with his father and another adult at the Rankin Lake Park in Gastonia around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday

The investigation is still ongoing.

Gastonia Police released the following statement: “At approximately 1 p.m. on September 27, 2018, search crews discovered a body believed to be Maddox Ritch off of Marietta Street/Old Dallas Highway in Gastonia.

Maddox’s parents have been notified of the discovery by law enforcement. Identification of the body will be done by the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office.”
