FBI: Rockford 5th Most Dangerous in Violent Crime

The annual crime report issued by the FBI lists Rockford as the 5th most dangerous city in the United States when it comes to violent crime.

That’s according to data released by the agency from 2015 crime statistics which were analyzed by the UK ‘Daily Mail.’

The FBI reports that Rockford saw 76.3 violent crimes per 10,000 people in 2015 despite a drop in murders reported that year.  The Forest City has 9 reported that year, although it typically averages 19 murders per year.

Other violent crimes, however, were up substantially in a year when the violent crime rate in the U.S. overall was down.

The worst cities for violent crime in the U.S. according to the report were:

  1. St. Louis
  2. Memphis
  3. Detroit
  4. Birmingham
  5. Rockford
