An American Airlines cleaning crew discovered a fetus inside the bathroom of a plane at LaGuardia Airport in New York on Tuesday morning.

Acording to Business Insider, airline spokesperson Justin Franco confirms the account, and says an investigation is ongoing. The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner says that the gestational age of the fetus is around five months.

The plan flew into LaGuardia around 11 PM from Charlotte, North Carolina. After passengers exited the plane, it was moved to a nearby hanger, where it was parked overnight.

While preparing the plane for its next flight, a cleaning crew member “went into the lavatories onboard the aircraft and noticed there was a lot of toilet paper in the toilet bowl section of the lavatory, and upon further inspection came across the fetus.” The employee told her supervisor, and contacted authorities.

Franco says the plan was supposed to take off as AA Flight 894 at 7:15 AM, but due to the investigation, passengers were put on other planes.
