Fire crews attack house fire on Collins Street Tuesday morning

The Rockford Fire Department was called out Tuesday morning for a fire in the 2900 block of Collins Street.

Officials say the arriving firemen saw heavy smoke coming from the rear of the house and deployed a fire attack line while additional companies searched the residence.

The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes, leaving heavy damage to one room and the attic.

There were no injuries reported and the Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the loss is estimated at $25,000.
