Ford’s F-150 is the automaker’s best-selling and most profitable vehicle. But the company temporarily shut down production last week after a fire at a supplier’s plant in Michigan.
Ford has only two factories that build the pickup.
The carmaker already halted production at its plant in Kansas City. Now, the Dearborn location is also closed.
The shutdown could last several weeks due to a shortage of some parts needed to build the vehicles. If the problem lasts a month, buyers will likely find the version of the truck they want unavailable.
