The Beloit Police Department announced Tuesday the arrest of a former Beloit Memorial High School substitute teacher for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old student.

Tyler J. Edge, 24, of Chippewa Falls, is suspected of assaulting the student several times. Edge was previously employed at Beloit Memorial as a long-term building substitute between August 2016 and July 2017.

The alleged assaults occurred at the school and at Edge’s South Beloit home. Search warrants granted for the suspect’s electronic devices led to felony charges being filed in Rock County Court on Monday.

Edge is currently a teacher in the Chippewa Falls School District and has been placed on unpaid leave effective Wednesday.
