A former Northern Illinois University running back is suing two daily fantasy sites for using his name to “generate millions in revenue.”
According to the DeKalb County Chronicle, Akeem Daniels is seeking class-action status and $5 million in damages. He filed the lawsuit against DraftKings and FanDuel on Wednesday in Chicago federal court.
The lawsuit says the sites puts Daniels and others “in an unwanted state of fear and concern of the risk of being contacted by spectators who have financial interest.”
15 other NIU players who appeared in games on the two sites were also mentioned in the lawsuit.
