The former executive of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council pleaded guilty to mail and tax fraud on Monday.

Leilani Hillis, 60, was fired from RAEDC in May of 2018. Between 2009 and 2018, she used an employee-issued credit card to spend more than half-a-million dollars on personal items.

In her position at RADEC, she was able to hide the transactions.

Hillis faces up to 20 years in prison.

She will be sentenced in June.
