ROCKFORD, Ill. - A former Rockford doctor admitted in court to inappropriately touching three of his patients, one of which was handicapped.
Charles Dehaan, 64, has been facing allegations for years. The offenses took place between October of 2010 and December of 2013. Police investigated complaints from three separate elderly patients who reported Dehaan touched them inappropriately during home health care appointments at their residences.
Dehaan was a licensed practicing physician in the Rockford area at the time of the offenses.
On Monday, he pled guilty to three counts of aggravated battery. He faces five years for each count of battery to a victim over 60, and an additional five years for battery to a victim who is handicapped.
He will be sentenced on September 20.
Dehaan previously pled guilty and was sentenced to nine years in federal prison for a health care fraud scheme in which he defrauded Medicare by overbilling and billing Medicare for treatment of patients who were already dead.
