Four arrested, three charged in connection with overnight shooting

Police have charged two men and a 17-year-old juvenile in connection with shooting on Rockford’s 25th Street.

Police say Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were on patrol in the area of 20th Street and 7th Avenue around 12:33 a.m. Wednesday when they heard Rockford Police Officers were looking for a black Nissan Altima in connection with a shooting that occurred in the 2100 block of 25th Street at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the vehicle allegedly refused to stop and led police on a short pursuit, until it stopped – due to mechanical issues – at Windsor Road and Blackberry Knoll Road.

A passenger fled the vehicle and was caught by a deputy in the 4400 block of Blackberry Knoll after a foot pursuit.

Three other suspects were taken into custody.

Police say a loaded handgun was recovered from the vehicle.

A 17-year-old juvenile male was charged with an active arrest warrant and obstructing identification,.

Montriel D. Clark, 20, of Rockford, was charged with Fleeing to Elude a Police Officer, driving without a valid license, and Resisting a Police Officer.

KeShaun M. Jones, 18, was charged with 3 counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, no FOID card, Illegal Possession of Ammunition, and Resisting a Police Officer.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
