Four Shootings Within 24 Hours in Rockford


Rockford police are investigating four shootings that left two people dead and six others hurt. All of the gunfire happened within a 24 hour period.

The first shooting happened near Concord Commons a little after 9:30 p.m. Friday night. Officers arrived in the 3500 block of Elm Street to find one man who had been shot. Another man showed up to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. Police believe he was shot on Elm Street as well. Their conditions are unknown.

The second shooting happened a little after 6 p.m. Saturday night at the Fairgrounds Housing Complex. Police arrived in the 300 block of Underwood Street to find a 25-year-old man who had been shot. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is not being released.

Around three hours later, another man was shot and killed in the 300 block of Royal Avenue. The 25-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9 p.m. His identity has not been released. Police also found a second victim who had minor injuries and transported him to the hospital for treatment. He’s expected to be okay.

And finally, at around 10:15 Saturday night, three people were shot outside Auburn Manor. Investigators say the victims were sitting outside in the 4100 block of Auburn Street when a car drove by and someone inside began firing at them. Two of the three victims were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. They are expected to be okay. The condition of the third victim is unknown.
