Freeport Police say a man attacked his wife and step-daughter before stabbing himself Sunday morning.

Officers were called to a home in the 1800 block of Winchester Drive around 6 a.m. Sunday. When they entered the home, they found Randy Watson, 55, and his 48-year-old wife suffering from stab wounds inside.

An investigation revealed Watson had come to the home to speak to his wife, which was a violation of a previous protection order against him. Following an argument, Watson allegedly stabbed his wife in the stomach before stabbing himself in the neck.

During the incident, Watson also stabbed his 33-year-old step-daughter in the hand, who was able to escape to a nearby home and call police.

Both Watson and his wife were hospitalized. Watson is at a Rockford hospital in critical condition while his wife was taken to UW Hospital in Madison. Her condition is not known.

Watson will face attempted murder charges following his discharge from the hospital. His bond is set at $500,000 cash.

On December 7th, Watson was arrested on felony sexual assault of a relative charges. He posted bond on Friday and was released from jail.
