A suspect is in custody, accused of prying open a donation box at a local church and stealing money inside.
Rockford Police arrested David Fritz, 48, of Freeport, on Friday. He’s accused of breaking into St. James Church on N. Second Street and stealing the money back on June 6.
Fritz is charged with burglary and criminal damage to property. He was lodged at the Winnebago County Jail.
