Freeport man sentenced to 15 years on drug trafficking charge

36-year-old Frank Howard, of Freeport, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for a 2018 drug trafficking charge.

Prosecutors said Howard was stopped by police on I-90 near Rockford, on April 26th, 2018, as he was bringing cocaine back from a supplier in Chicago, which was to be distributed in Freeport.

Police said they found 126 grams of cocaine in Howard’s vehicle.

In a written plea agreement, Howard admitted to selling cocaine to an law enforcement informant on four separate occasions.

Howard was also sentenced to 3 years supervised release, following his sentence.
