Freeport Teen Arrested After Streaming Live on Facebook with Guns, Drugs

A wanted Freeport teenager was arrested live on Facebook when police noticed he was streaming video of himself on the social media site from an apartment in the city.

A Freeport detective monitoring the internet located the live video of Jalen Anderson, 18, Monday afternoon. Freeport Police had been previously notified that Anderson was wanted out of Harvey, Illinois for armed robbery.

Based on the video, they were able to determine Anderson was in an apartment in the 2500 block of Stephenson Circle. Officers and detectives mobilized and responded to the location and arrested Anderson without incident. The Facebook live stream continued during the arrest, catching it on camera.

A search of the apartment following his arrest netted a loaded semi-automatic pistol and nine pills containing Xanax.

Anderson was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm without FOID, unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
