Fugitive Wanted by FBI Arrested in Rockford

A nationally wanted FBI fugitive has been arrested in Rockford according to the Bureau.

The FBI had been offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of Mario Lee Lambert, a man wanted specifically for the armed robbery of a cell phone store in Knoxville, TN, but also believed to have been involved in cell phone store robberies nationwide.

During the Knoxville robbery, the FBI says Lambert and three armed accomplices took employees and one customer hostage, forcing them into a back room where they were left with their hands zip-tied behind their backs.

Rockford police say they received a tip that Lambert was attending a large party in the 400 block of South Day Ave.  When police arrived, he reportedly tried to escape by running into a large crowd at Henrietta Park was captured and arrested after a foot chase.

He is being held for U.S. Marshals, but was also charged for Resisting Arrest.
