Fundraiser Held in Honor of Police Officer, Beloit Native One Year After His Death

One year after a 27-year-old police officer and Beloit native suddenly passed away, a fundraiser is held in his honor.

Hundreds showed up for the 1st Annual Tanner Kitelinger Memorial Fundraiser was held at the Rock Bar and Grill in Beloit Saturday afternoon. Kitelinger graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and went on to become a Burlington Police Department K-9 Officer. He passed away a year ago, on June 9th, 2017, from medical complications.
Kitelinger’s sister says the event is exactly what her brother would have wanted.

“Tanner would want to still support what he was passionate about,” said Ashley Lervik. “So we came up with the idea to have a memorial fund event, and all the proceeds would go to the Burlington Police Department K-9 program and then the Special Olympics as well.”

The Rock Bar and Grill also donated 10% of its proceeds to the Tanner Kitelinger Memorial Fund. If you’re interested in donating to the fund, click here.
